Pre-Treatment Care

Prepping for your upcoming treatment is super important for getting the best results. Here's a friendly guide to ensure everything goes smoothly:

Brows

I love it when your brows are natural and grown out for your appointment. It gives me more to work with!

Medication

Avoid these for 72 hours before your procedure: Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E, and Ibuprofen.

Paracetamol is perfectly fine.

Important: Don’t stop taking any necessary medications without consulting your doctor first.

Accutane users: You need to be off it for at least 3 months before the procedure.

Exercise and Lifestyle

Skip the workout on the day of your treatment - body heat can expand your pores.

Avoid strong tans or sunburns on your face. If you show up with sunburn, we’ll have to reschedule and you’ll lose your deposit.

No intense skin treatments like chemical peels, microdermabrasions, or mesotherapy for 3-4 weeks before your appointment.

Wash your hair before coming in if you can.

Brow tinting fans: Get it done at least a week before your permanent makeup session.

No tanning or sunbathing 2 weeks before and after the procedure.

Skin Creams

Stop using Retin-A or Retinols 14 days prior to your treatment and avoid using them around the area for 30 days afterwards. Using them too soon can make the pigments fade quickly. Continued use on the area will fade your permanent makeup prematurely.

Botox and Fillers

If you get Botox or fillers in your forehead or temple area, do it either 2 weeks before or wait until after your procedure.

Food and Drink

Avoid alcohol and coffee/energy drinks for at least 24 hours before your treatment. They can increase bleeding, which affects the outcome.

Menstrual Cycle

Try to schedule your treatment when you’re not on your period, as it can make you more sensitive.

Skin Blemishes

Let me know if you have any blemishes, pimples, cold sores, moles, or other skin imperfections in or around the treatment area before your appointment.

Important Points to Consider

After your procedure, I'll explain all the aftercare steps. One key thing to note is:

Expect the colour to be more intense, sharper, brighter, or darker immediately after the procedure. This is normal and will soften as your skin heals.

Healing time varies, so avoid planning any major events during this period.

MRI Scans

The procedure may show up as an artifact on the scan. Some clients feel a tingling sensation. Be sure to tell your radiologist about your treatment.

Giving Blood

The Red Cross recommends waiting 6 months after your treatment before donating blood.

Holidays

If you’re planning any sun or water holidays after your procedure, please let me know so we can schedule your appointments and give the right advice.

Looking forward to seeing you and creating some fabulous brows!

Aftercare Instructions

Journey Home
(if longer than 1 hour)

Gently blot the area with a clean tissue to absorb any excess lymph fluid (that’s the clear fluid that might ooze a bit from your brows). Not everyone experiences this, but if you do, we want to keep it from drying and forming a crust.

Washing

First wash: When you get home, gently wash your brows to remove any lymph or excess pigment.

Daily washing routine: Morning, midday, and evening for 7 days.

  • Use plain Dove or Sanex soap.

  • Wash your brows outside of the shower.

  • Use your fingertips to wet and cleanse the eyebrows. Rub gently but thoroughly in a smooth motion following hair growth.

  • Rinse with temperate water (not hot) to ensure all soap is washed away.

  • Pat dry with kitchen roll—be gentle but thorough.

Keeping Clean and Dry

Keep your brows clean and dry. Avoid excess moisture, creams, oils, and sweat.

No other cleansing products with acids (glycolic, lactic, or AHA) or exfoliants—stick to what's recommended.

Important Reminders

Fresh pillowcase: Use a clean one and try not to sleep on your face or eyebrows.

Let dry skin exfoliate naturally: No picking! It can cause scarring and colour loss.

No facials, Botox, chemical treatments, or microdermabrasion for 4 weeks post-treatment.

Avoid intense exercise for at least a week. Light exercise is fine, but nothing that causes extreme sweating.

Sun exposure and tanning: Avoid for 2 weeks. Wear a hat outside and use SPF once healed—sun exposure can cause premature fading.

Hot showers: Avoid long hot showers for the first 10 days. Keep water off your brow area.

No swimming or steam activities until fully healed.

No makeup on the brow area for at least a week—no concealer, powder, etc.

Hands off! No picking or scratching the treated area.

No growth enhancement products like Latisse, Revitabrow, or Grande Lash for a month before and after treatment, as they can shift your colour.

Important Showering Note

Limit shower time: Avoid very hot water and steam, which can create unwanted moisture on your face. You can even cover your forehead and eyebrows with a shower cap while you wash your body.

Follow these steps, and your brows will heal beautifully! If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to reach out. Enjoy your fabulous new look!
